Scholarship Program Application and Awards Policy
Qualified Candidates
The Eagan Community Foundation awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors living in Eagan or graduating from a high school located in Eagan. These scholarships are awarded based on criteria determined by the scholarship donors. Criteria may include such items as financial need, academic merit, involvement in school and community activities, as well as other requirements.
Scholarship Funds
The scholarships are funded from donors representing a wide spectrum of local businesses, organizations, foundations, school and athletic associations, and families, as well as the Eagan Community Foundation itself.
Scholarship Criteria
Eligibility for scholarship awards is determined strictly by the criteria set forth by the individual scholarship donors.
Application Process
Applications are an online process accessed through the Foundation's website. Application information is handled with special concern for privacy and confidentiality. When the application is processed, and prior to another action being taken on an application, all identifying information is removed and each application is assigned a random ID number. Each application must be submitted by Sunday, February 23rd at 11:59 PM in order to be considered—there are no exceptions to this policy.
Please note: The information you share in your application is private. After we have ensured there is no personally identifying information, we will share certain information with trained volunteers for scoring. If details you share in your application lead us or our volunteers to believe you are or someone else is at risk of harm or injury, we may alert school officials.
Application Troubleshooting
If a student is struggling with the application, they should reach out to the mail or phone numbers provided. We can not talk to parents alone without the student about the application. Parents can be on a call WITH the student but we cannot work with parents alone to submit applications for their students.
Scholarship Award Process
The Foundation reviews and scores all applications using a "blind" process (the selection committee does not see applicant names) and matches student to scholarship, based on the specified criteria. The Foundation Scholarship Committee will determine any and all scholarships for which the applicant is qualified, based on the information provided by the applicant in the on-line application. Each scholarship is awarded to the most deserving student with higher value scholarships awarded first. No more than one scholarship will be awarded per applicant.
The award process culminates on Wednesday, May 15th with an evening virtual awards ceremony for scholarship winners, parents, and donors.
