COVID-19 RESPONSE FUND

Eagan foundation covid-19 response fund

The Eagan Foundation supports nonprofit organizations and efforts that help make Eagan the best place to live, learn, work and play.  Right now, right here in Eagan, our nonprofit neighbors need our help.

Our COVID-19 Response Fund will support nonprofit organizations with deep roots in the Eagan community that provide services and programming to our Eagan neighbors and have experienced significant setbacks due to COVID-19.

The Eagan Foundation has been supporting Eagan nonprofits through strategic grantmaking for nearly 30 years. This new fund enables us to leverage state and national funding opportunities for Eagan nonprofits as well as provide a vehicle for Eagan residents to help other Eagan residents. We are communicating with our 40+ partner nonprofits now to understand their most urgent needs. Early emphasis will be on relief for organizations focused on food/nutrition, shelter, and physical & mental health. As we begin to move through this crisis, funds will also be used to support general recovery and resiliency for nonprofits as well as arts and community building initiatives.

Grant requests will be reviewed on a rolling basis by members of the Eagan Foundation’s grant selection committee. More detail about the size of grants will be available by April 20th. Organizations looking for support can learn more here.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I have personally been impacted by COVID-19. Can I apply for relief from this fund? Unfortunately no. This fund will support Eagan’s community organizations that currently provide essential services. Organizations that receive this emergency funding will be listed on our website as a resource for individuals looking for assistance. Please look at  our nonprofit partners that recently received grants; many of them provide essential services such as emergency food, shelter, and physical and mental health resources. Additionally, see information from our friends at the City of Eagan and Dakota County.

Will this fund serve Eagan only? Yes. The Eagan Foundation primarily serves individuals that live, learn, work, or play in Eagan. The Eagan Foundation has been providing grant funding and support to Eagan nonprofits for nearly 30 years.

If I donate, can I restrict my donation to a certain organization?  No – not for this particular initiative. In order for us to shift resources quickly towards the greatest needs, we cannot accept donations earmarked for a specific organization. We encourage you to donate to them directly. (Note: If you are interested in setting up a general Donor Advised Fund with the Eagan Foundation, we can help with that.)

My organization is interested in resources from this fund. Can we be considered?  Yes. Access our very abbreviated grant application here; we expect to make awards in several rounds. In our first round of granting, priority will be given to organizations we have recently partnered with that address basic needs of the community such as food, housing, shelter, nutrition and physical and mental health.  Future funding will include new partners addressing basic needs as well as nonprofit organizations who provide general benefit to the community (for example, arts organizations) that have suffered loss of funding because of the COVID-19 crisis.

Should I donate to this fund or donate directly to other organizations? We encourage you to give as you see best. This fund is meant to offer Eagan residents a chance to combine their individual donations for a bigger impact. There are many great organizations serving Eagan, and we encourage you to support them.
